Seghill Accordion Club
started in 2004 from the disbanded Blyth Valley Accordion Band who used the Comrades Club lounge as a practice venue on Tuesday nights.
It took its present form thanks to Joe Spence an accomplished player and George Hewish the Comrades Club chairman. Joe took on the music side and we still use the same routine on our weekly get-togethers. George Hewish introduced the catering aspect for our guest artist nights and our pie and peas are now famous throughout the accordion world. Sadly both Joe and George are no longer with us but are always in our thoughts.
The Band
The Seghill Accordion band leads off each Tuesday night with a programme to be played on guest artist nights. With a new list for every guest evening the band also play out locally for church and social events.
Buffet Nights
In between guest artist nights we invite local music groups to entertain us with our members providing the food.
Guests include:
Sounds instrumental
Scottish Dancers
Irish Dancers
Belly dancers
Local accordion bands
Mandolin band
Ukulele bands
These evenings are really great and meeting people who enjoy what they do is what it is all about
This recent photograph was a social evening with our band and Sounds Instrumental - Four guitar players who live locally and play Shadows and 60s music
